COVID-19 | Updates & Resources

January 1, 2021

Erin’s House for Grieving Children is doing our part to stop the spread of COVID-19 by providing telephonic support and online virtual groups. Our Board of Directors and COVID-19 Task Force continue to monitor conditions in the community and are encouraged at the progress we have made. We look forward to bringing our volunteers, and families back to our building when it is safe for everyone to return. Until then, let's all work together to spread kindness, hope and healing as we mask up, wash our hands, and physically distance to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Since going virtual, Erin’s House hasn't been the same without the weekly smell of pizza, board games being played, and the sounds that come from our volcano room. While we could go on and on about these changes, we recognize that our Erin’s House families know more than most what it means to readjust after life throws you something unexpected. Creating a new "normal" is never easy but it's exactly what many of us are doing now.

With that being said, we want to share our plans for Erin’s House program; understanding that given current pandemic circumstances, things could change based on our community and the needs accessed by the CDC and state/local government. We did not venture into this decision lightly, and we are fortunate to have expert board members and friends of Erin’s House advise us along the way.

Erin's House will continue virtual programming until we can safely return to on-site peer-support groups.

While we realize this decision may disappoint or maybe even relieve some of you, we hope that you realize safety is our number one priority during this time.

So, what does this mean for our new “normal” program night?

Our peer-support groups for children, teens, and their families will continue to be offered through a virtual platform and at absolutely no cost to families. Families may attend our virtual Zoom groups on their specified program night based on the age of their children.

We are so grateful for each and every one of our supporters. Our community has brought Erin’s House through adversity in the past and we know that we can count on you in the future. What we have learned from our 27 years of experience serving grieving families is that the power of holding a safe space for difficult experiences and feelings can bring about transformation. As always, Erin’s House will be here in the aftermath of this pandemic to provide hope and healing locally and nationally.
