COVID-19 Updates & Resources

March 13, 2020

Dear Erin’s House Community,

The safety, health, and well-being of our Erin’s House community members is our highest priority, and we also believe it is critical to do our part in the global effort to slow the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Please know that we are taking steps as an organization to minimize the risk of transmission between the grieving families we serve, our dedicated volunteers, and our staff.

Today, we made the decision to suspend our programming for a minimum of four weeks effective immediately. We will then evaluate and establish a date to resume program.

  • All peer-support groups will not meet during this time.

  • We will be providing online activities for grieving families that can be done at home until we are able to resume our program.

  • Erin’s House staff will continue to conduct intakes for newly bereaved families and to take support phone calls.

  • We will remain available by phone during regular office hours. In-office hours will vary due to limited staff.

Grieving children and teens may be particularly vulnerable to anxiety and worry during times of uncertainty. Here are some tips from the National Association of School Psychologists on talking to children about coronavirus/COVID-19.

We are thankful for your patience as we navigate during this unprecedented time.

We are so grateful for each and every one of our supporters. Our community has brought Erin’s House through adversity in the past and we know that we can count on you in the future. What we have learned from our 26 years of experience serving grieving families is that the power of holding a safe space for difficult experiences and feelings can bring about transformation.

During these uncertain times, please know that Erin’s House staff and resources are just a phone call away. As always, Erin’s House will be here in the aftermath of this pandemic to provide hope and healing locally and nationally.

Thank you for your ongoing support of the grieving children and families here at Erin’s House for Grieving Children. If you have any questions or concerns – or want to connect in any way – we can be reached at 260.423.2466 OR (Executive Director) OR (Director of Operations).

With grateful hearts,

Debbie Meyer
